Comfrey is also known as , Ass's Ear, Black Root, Blackwort, Boneset, Bruisewort, Consolida, Consound, Gum Plant, Knitbone, Salsify, Slippery Root, and Wallwort.
Comfrey has long been known for healing wounds and broken bones. Its name is from the Latin, "con firma", which means "grow together".
For more esoteric uses, it is said to protect travellers from harm and to attract wealth.
